(Feb 18 2011) - POLL : TERM LIMITS FOR CONGRESS
Post Opinion : Post Editor - A. L. "LUCKY" Lucketta

PORTERVILLE, CA -- Early in January of 2011, the Porterville Area Republican Assembly commissioned a local poll regarding congressional term limits - an idea and belief held dearly by the California Republican Assembly. Included in this survey - which was conducted from Feb. 1st through Feb. 12th 2011, and POLLED 107 PEOPLE from the Porterville area - were four questions concerning Congressman Devin Nunes.

Those four questions were : Do you know the name of your Congressman ? Do you know what he's done in Congress ? Do you know what he's done for Porterville ? Fourth, did you vote for him in 2010 ? The final question was, do you favor term limits for Congress ?

100 or the 107 citizens surveyed said YES - THEY DO FAVOR TERM LIMITS !!!

Topping this street survey was question number three -- Do you know what Congressman Nunes has done for Porterville ? Of those 107 folks polled, 105 said "NO" they did not know what he's done for the Porterville area.

Looking at the ages : 30 from the 18-25 category were polled, 38 from the 26-35 category were polled, 6 from the 35-45, 14 from the 46-55, and 19 from the 56 and above category.

65 registered voters were polled along with 42 non registered. 30 of those registered voters were Republicans, 17 were Democrats, 3 labeled themselves as Tea Party, 5 claimed they were independent and 10 stated other or declined to state.

The horrific synopsis from this survey was the appalling disconnect with the electors and those who remain unregistered as voters. Few knew the name of their congressman and fewer knew what he's done in congress, let alone for Porterville.

Knowing that local businessmen from Main St., Henderson Ave., Olive Ave., D St., 2nd. St. and additional side streets - who also participated in this poll and were just as flummoxed re: who and what their congressman done for them or Porterville ... raised serious political concerns at the last meeting {02/17/11} for PARA, the Porterville Area Republican Assembly.

PARA's members, and guests from SETCO and Porterville's Tea Party, viewed the outcome from this survey with concern ... all the while hinting virtually the same sentiment at PARA's meeting last night.

President A.L.Lucketta, stated "... the people of Porterville have virtually no idea who their congressman is, what he's done and that falls squarely on the shoulders of Congressman Nunes. He needs to come to Porterville more often and quit sending his aids or assistants. He needs to represent all the people in the 21st congressional district. Porterville - it would appear - is not that great a concern to him. And that's gotta stop and he's gotta step up and show up."

Continuing, President A.L.Lucketta said, "... the people that we polled in Porterville are still upset that congress bailed out the banks. Their upset that there's no jobs, that the taxes are too high and their upset that congress won't confront obama on these any of theses issues ... let alone his true identity. Many asked PARA ... 'is there someone else we can send to congress ?' "

PARA will be conducting a least two more polls / surveys this year, possibly more. They do not call folks on the phone, they actually go out into the public and actually talk with the people they poll.

For a copy of this poll / survey, please call PARA at (559) 784-PARA and leave your name and address. PARA, meets the 3rd Thursday every month at 6pm. Next month they will be meeting at The Pizza Factory on 897 West Henderson Ave. For more info re: this survey, call PARA Headquarters at (559) 784-PARA or e-mail president Lucketta at, president@pa-ra.org.
