On May 26th 2014, the Porterville Tea Party Patriots held a meeting at a local restaurant on North Main St and invited many of those who were on Porterville's Charter Review Committee - ( Milt Stowe, Matt Green, Terry Irish ) - to gather and hopefully explain the "Intent" of the 14 Measures that the electorate will be voting on in the Primary June 3rd.
Seated at the head table was Porterville City Councilman Greg Shelton - who conducted most of the meeting and PCC Candidate Matthew Green. Milt Stowe was seated in the audience along with Terry Irish, who chimed in at intermittent times, adding additional information where needed.
After an open review of each Amendment / Measure was conducted and questions were asked, the audience took account of the information and voted amongst themselves how they intended to vote. The tally was not made manifest that evening but was forwarded in their ballot box.
On the other hand The Porterville Post did tally votes which were scored from several members of the Charter Review Committee - that evening and others previous - and considered their opinions as well before issuing our VOTING GUIDE.
Again, the Post emphatically recommends that you - the voter - research each and every politician, proposition and amendment before you send in your absentee ballot or go to the polls. As an avid investigator / researcher I can tell you plainly, unless you know the "Intent" of any proposition or amendment, you are bound to believe what is written in the election pamphlets. These pamphlets are written in a campaign language configured to coerce or convict the voters. Not much "Intent" can be gleaned from them and that's how they're designed.
In the end, you - the voter - must put at bey your apathy and make the second and third effort, come election time. The Porterville Post knows and understands, full well, your disenchantment with the political process and politicians, but believe you me, that's a horrible excuse to stay out of this process and to stay away from the polls. And truth be told, that's what the status-quo wants.
GOD Bless and we hope you VOTE RIGHT - LIKE THE POST
