Candidate Campaign Info :
Activities, businesses priority for Cable :
I am running for one of three open seats on the Porterville City Council in the June 2012 election. I am running for city council to give back to the community. Serving on the City Council is a chance to continue the community work I've always enjoyed doing, but on a wider scale and with greater impact.
My dedication working with first time youth offenders turning their lives around was very rewarding. I have volunteered every week with a hand full of concerned citizens for twelve years where we handed down community service projects and rehabilitation in lieu of jail time to first-time youth offenders. Ninety percent of the kids that had come through the accountability board would not have been there if they had more activities.
I continued my carrier in public service working with the California Department of Corrections as a correctional officer for the past ten years; three as a correctional sergeant at the California State Prison in Corcoran. My workings with state and county would be no different working for the city.
I have always enjoyed serving the local public. I have the drive, energy, and most importantly the passion to serve to the people of Porterville. I am dedicated to meeting the needs of our growing multicultural community.
As a City Council member, I will support plans and projects that maintain smart growth for the city. I pledge to work with the planning commission and to use our tax dollars wisely. Make known the services to new and existing companies of the programs available to get them to locate here and to help the ones that are already here to continue their growth.
My goal is to make Porterville a great place for future companies to grow and for people to have places to work and provide for their families. I will ensure that our city continually seeks ways to improve efficiency and stop wasteful spending.
And most importantly; continue to make Porterville a great place to live I want to preserve what is great about this city, while helping to foster the strong community values we cherish such as family, education, safety, and environment.
It is time for our community to welcome a new generation of leaders. I pledge to provide the integrity and leadership our community deserves.
It is time to move this city forward.
