Milton "Milt" Stowe - Porterville City Council Candidate :
Please allow me to introduce myself, Milton "Milt" Stowe, 61 years of age, resident of Porterville for more than 40 years, attended Porterville College for two years, transferred and earned a BA degree at Sacramento State University.
I've been active throughout the community the forty plus years I've lived in Porterville. I served on the Porterville Elementary School Board, and just recently the City's Charter Review Committee.
Currently, I serve on the Porterville College Foundation Board, Porterville Sheltered Workshop Board, Porterville First Church of the Nazarene Board, and the Board Chair for the Porterville Chamber of Commerce.
I retired with over 40 years of service, 30 years of the 40 being in local government working for the cities of Porterville and Tulare. Retired as the Parks and Leisure Services Director/Deputy City Manager from the City of Porterville. After retiring, I served as the Interim Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Hanford.
As you can see I have experience and vast knowledge of how a City should operate, I understand the roles and duties of City Council and city staff.
The City of Porterville for many years received the top honors from the State for it's excellence in Economic Development, my goal is to strive for these achievements to be bestowed upon Porterville once again.
It's time that we stop "fishing" for industry to come to Porterville, but start "hunting" for industry to come to Porterville, by fostering a healthy business climate.
As an administrator my decisions were based on a careful analysis of all options to find a sensible and effective solution. I will bring that same thought process to City Hall as a Councilperson.
My goal is to encourage common sense governance, consensus and calm decision-making.
I respectfully ask for your vote on June 3rd!
