Candidate Campaign Info :
I have lived in Porterville since 1965. I graduated from Tulare Union High School (1963) and attended College of Sequoias.
I am a retired State of California Department of Food and Agriculture, USDA Inspector. I was employed with the CDFA-USDA for more than 31 years. While with CDFA-USDA my responsibilities included hiring seasonal employees, supervising employees, and working with private industries in relation to fruit, vegetable, and nut inspections. I've been retired since February 2007.
I have been a member of the Porterville Breakfast Lions for several years where I've worked on many community service projects. For more than 30 years I've been a member of the Porterville Eagles Lodge. Since 1999 I've been an advisor for the Porterville Police Explorer program. I'm also an active of the Orangebelt Mason's Lodge. I've served on the Board of Directors for the Porterville Eagles Lodge, Porterville Breakfast Lions, and the Porterville Jaycees.
My interests include volunteering for local organizations including Monache High School football team, Teacher Appreciation Night, along with the organizations above. I enjoy fishing, gardening, NASCAR, and traveling. I like meeting new people and never meet a stranger. I'm married to Valerie and will be soon celebrating our 25th anniversary.
Porterville is making strides in the right direction by bringing in more national brand businesses to town however we must also work to bringing more businesses to downtown and keep our small town feel. The youth of our community is our future and we must continue to invest in them.
During my run for city councilman in 2010 I also heard from many local senior citizens who've expressed their need for support. As a community we need to ensure opportunities are also available to adults including recreation, education, and housing.
