(Feb 22 2008) - We risked our lives, we’ll tell our stories :
Post Special Addition : by Sergeant Omar Reneau
You train on a daily basis to be ready to confront the enemy. You plan strategies and bond with your company – you become more than friends, you’ve become family.
Omar Reneau, of Porterville, heard the cry to defend his Country in 2001. He joined the U.S. Marines and took care of the basics in basic training and then one-by-one he took care of his men, with much valor -- in Iraq.
After our interview with Sgt. Reneau on Feb 21st, the Post decided to best way to write these stories, is to let these troops write their stories. Yes, we could fancy it up a bit – to sell the story – but we won’t. We don’t need to sell anything. However, if they need us to help them tell their story, we will.
In the coming months, Sgt. Reneau will share his story and the stories of the men and women who served with him in Iraq – good and bad. Our goal is simple, they need to tell their story ... and we need to hear it.
GOD Bless all the men and women who served our country !
