On September 9, 2008 at approximately 8:46 p.m. officers responded to a vehicle vs. a bicyclist traffic collision at the intersection of Highway 190 and Jaye Street.
The investigation revealed Lucas Espinola was riding his bicycle northbound on Jaye Street at Highway 190.
Mr. Espinola failed to stop for the red light and continued northbound through the intersection of Highway 190.
Mr. Espinola traveled into the path of Steven Rivera, who was driving a 1995 Honda Civic westbound on Highway 190. Mr. Rivera’s speed was estimated at 55 mph.
Mr. Espinola sustained moderate injuries that included a possible broken leg. Mr. Espinola was taken to Sierra View District Hospital for treatment.
Mr. Espinola’s injuries do not appear to be life threatening. The driver of the 1995 Honda Civic was not injured.
