by Disaster Drill Daniel Riles : Emergency Preperations Columnist Welcome and thanks for visiting my column. My name's Daniel Riles and my friends call me "Disaster Drill Dan" and for good reason. I believe that good and God fearing folks need to be ready at all times - for any kind of disaster. Man-made or natural, it really doesn't matter - a disaster is a disaster. So link-up with me here and let's all "Dare to Prepare". In the next month or so, I will be putting together a group of volunteers who'll assist me in developing a "Disaster Preparation Advisory Committee" that will address unanswered questions and unprepared people. To be on this new committee, please e-mail me at dan@portervillepost.com. Thanks ...
DID YOU KNOW - In an earthquake or other major disaster, some people may be injured and many people are unaware that they might be on their own for 72 hours or more after a major earthquake. You might have to depend on yourself to treat injured family members, friends and coworkers, since outside assistance, including 9-1-1 service, might be over-taxed and not immediately available. If you dont have a first aid kit, now is the time to assemble one. |
