Meeting the Post inside was Mr. Gary Tomilinson who provided the tour and information. As busy as Mr. Tomlinson was, he still took the time - as well as many other directors, assistant's and employees - for a quick interview and a quick synopsis of how it all came about.
The McDermont Field House basically was an old converted packing warehouse located in central Lindsay. Through multiple grants from the state and intellectual resources from none other that "Disney-Land", they were off and running in the latter part of 2007.
Wanting something great for the folks in Linsay, the city manager and council traveled from the west coast to the east coast searching for programs and possibilities. And what they discovered was in the piers of New York city. According to Mr. Tomlinson, what New York had was one of the largest indoor sports recreation complexes in the nation ... and Lindsay's officials determined that's what we want.
Scheduled for an official opening -- June 21st 2008, Lindsay-Land is already accomodating the needs of the residence of Lindsay with concerts and recreational activities, including basketball and soccor tournaments, lazer-tag competitions and many other levels of entertainiment that begs description.
For the City of Lindsay, this is another "All-American" project and the Post congratulates the city for caring enough to bring the best.
