»  (Feb 15 2008) - Visalia Police Dept - Press Release : Burgler suspect caught in the act
by Sgt Wightman - Visalia Police Dept : Early this morning, Visalia Police responded to an attempted burglary on West Russell street. An off-duty officer from the Tulare County Sherriffs department, attempted to detain the suspect "Thomas Hulsey - age 29" at which time the suspect ran from the deputy and got into his parked vehicle.

The suspect started his vehicle and the deputy continued to try to take him into custody. The suspect then fled in his vehicle nearly striking the deputy. The deputy fired at the suspect striking him and the suspect's vehicle as it fled the scene.

The suspect was located at his residence after the police were contacted by the family members. The suspect was then transported to K.D.D.H. where he is being treated for a single gun shot wound to his right arm.

The Visalia Police Department will be handling the criminal portion of the investigation and the Tulare County Sheriff's Department will handle the administrative portion of the officer involved incident.
