An off-duty detective from the Porterville Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit was in the area of Veteran’s Park when he observed two suspects drive into the east parking lot of the park.
The suspects, both unaware of the detective’s presence, began smoking marijuana and packaging it while still seated in the vehicle.
The detective contacted the suspects and detained them without incident at which time officers assigned to a bicycle enforcement detail responded to assist.
Approximately 8 grams of marijuana with a street value of $100, along with packaging material, were seized and both suspects were arrested for possession of marijuana for sales and transportation of marijuana.
Both suspects were later booked into the Tulare County Jail.
