On November 15, 2008 at approximately 4:00 a.m., Officer Meier was patrolling in the 500 block of North Second Street within the City of Porterville.
Officer Meier observed a subject later identified as Esteban Diaz riding a bicycle. Officer Meier stopped Mr. Diaz for operating a bicycle upon a roadway in an unsafe manner.
Officer Meier determined Mr. Diaz had been drinking alcoholic beverages and was intoxicated. Mr. Diaz was arrested for operating a bicycle while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage.
Mr. Diaz was also in possession of a wooden speaker box and one stereo speaker. An unreported vehicle burglary was found by assisting officers in the 400 block of North Second Street moments.
The speaker box and speaker belonged to the victim of the vehicle burglary. Evidence located at the crime scene indicated the suspect had forced entry into the trunk of the vehicle to remove the property.
Mr. Diaz was booked into Tulare County Jail on the above charges.
