On November 12, 2008, at approximately 5:00 PM, detectives with the Porterville Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit (S.I.U.), assisted by the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department Narcotic Taskforce served a search warrant in the 20000 Block of Avenue 200 in the unincorporated area of Strathmore. Detectives contacted and detained a subject identified as Juan Carlos Moreno.
During the search, investigators located approximately 32 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine packaged for sale and approximately 6,300 grams (14 pounds) of suspected marijuana. The estimated street value of the seized narcotics was approximately $11,280.
Investigators also seized approximately $23,500 in U.S. Currency believed to be proceeds from illegal narcotic trafficking.
Investigators also located 9-mm handgun, a 20 gauge shotgun, two rifles, digital scales, packaging material and other items associated with the sales and trafficking of crystal methamphetamine and marijuana.
Juan Carlos Moreno was arrested for possession for sales of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana for sale, being armed during the commission of a felony, maintaining a residence where a controlled substance is being sold and possession of narcotic paraphernalia.
Moreno was booked at the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department and is being held in lieu of a $250,000 bail.
