On October 25, 2008, at approximately 7:00 a.m., officers with the Porterville Police Department were dispatched to the El Gallito Market located at 283 West Olive Avenue.

Officers arrived and found that the market had been broken into, vandalized and there was approximately $8,000 in merchandize stolen from the business. Officers conducted a crime scene investigation, which led them to a residence in the 300 Block of South “G” Street. Officers detained six juveniles at that residence.
Detectives with the Porterville Police Department were called to assist in the investigation. Investigators conducted a search of the residence in the 300 Block of South “G” Street and located property that had been stolen from the business. Detectives recovered approximately $7,500 of the stolen property, which was later returned to the owner.
All six of the juveniles were transported to the Juvenile Detection Facility in Visalia and booked for burglary, possession of stolen property, felony vandalism and conspiracy. All the juveniles are being held without bail until a juvenile court hearing.
