On October 17, 2008 at approximately 2:00 a.m., Officer Hatch responded to the 100 block of North H Street to investigate a family disturbance.
Officer Hatch contacted a confidential victim and Derrick Ranstead at the scene.
The victim reported she was assaulted by Derrick Ranstead just prior to Officer Hatch’s arrival.
The victim stated Mr. Ranstead threatened her life and disabled a telephone line so she could not call for assistance.
The victim sustained minor injuries that did not require medical assistance.
Mr. Ranstead was arrested at the scene without incident. Mr. Ranstead was subsequently transported to Tulare County Main Jail and booked on the above charges.
