Officers responded to a report of several shots heard in the area of Morton Avenue and Argyle Street. During the investigation, Officers were able to narrow down the location of the occurrence in the 2100 block of West Morton Avenue.
As Officers were arriving in front of the residence, Officer Ward observed a subject walk to a pickup truck parked in the front yard and put something in the bed of the truck. Officers attempted to contact the subject; however, he went into the residence.
As Officers were checking for the suspect, they located a Ruger .22 caliber semi-automatic pistol in the bed of the aforementioned pickup truck.
Officers entered the residence and located Jose Ramirez Rodriguez, Jr. inside. He was immediately detained; however, he began to violently resist and began to cause a disturbance inside the residence.
Rodriguez was brought out of the residence and escorted to a patrol car. While being escorted to the patrol car, Rodriguez yelled several gang slurs and threatened several officers’ lives.
A search of Rodriguez clothing revealed (10) live .22 caliber bullets. He was also determined to have just been released from Corcoran State Prison and was on active California Department of Corrections Parole.
Rodriguez was booked at Main Jail for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, negligent discharge of a firearm, resisting arrest by force or violence, gang enhancement allegation, and a parole violation.
