On October 10, 2008 at approximately 4:29 p.m. Officer Craig was dispatched to Mervyn’s regarding a theft, with the suspect fleeing from the store on foot. Officer Craig was able to locate and detain Edward Guerrero nearby. Mr. Guerrero provided a false name to Officer Craig during the investigation.
Mr. Guerrero was positively identified by a store employee as the person who took merchandise from the store without paying for it. The merchandise was returned to the store. Investigation revealed Mr. Guerrero planned the theft in advance.
Mr. Guerrero was arrested and transported to the Porterville Police Department for booking. Mr. Guerrero’s true identity was determined during the booking process through fingerprint identification system and a previous booking photo.
Mr. Guerrero was transported to the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department Porterville Sub-Station for housing on charges of commercial burglary, and providing a false name to a peace officer.
