On September 18, 2008, Officer Orique was contacted by an employee of Motel 6 regarding an unwanted subject in one of the rooms.
Officer Orique responded to the room and contacted a female adult, who was determined to be the responsible person for the room.
Officer Orique initiated a consensual search of the room for the unwanted person, and discovered Eugene Hughes, hiding in the restroom. Hughes was found to be a parolee at large and was subsequently taken into custody.
During further search of the room, officers located a backpack containing miscellaneous calibers of live rifle, shotgun and handgun ammunition, along with (3) three high capacity rifle magazines. Hughes was also found to be in possession of hypodermic needles.
Hughes was later booked into the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department Porterville Sub-Station Jail on the related charges.
