On September 17, 2008, at approximately 6:30 p.m., detectives with the Porterville Police Department Special Investigations Unit (SIU) attempted to locate a 15 year old juvenile who was wanted for grand theft auto, resisting arrest and being a member of a criminal street gang.
Detectives observed the wanted juvenile in the backyard of a residence in the 100 Block of South Jaye Street. When the detective contacted the juvenile he fled on foot.
After a short foot pursuit the detectives were able to place the juvenile into custody without any further incident.
The juvenile was booked at the Visalia Juvenile Detention Facility for grand theft of an automobile, two counts of resisting a police officer and being a member of a criminal street gang.
The juvenile is being held without bail.
