On September 16, 2008 at approximately 9:44 p.m. Officer Jordan was dispatched to a vehicle theft that just occurred. The victim reported three subjects were seen driving off in his vehicle a few minutes earlier.
Officer Sutherland located the vehicle traveling in the 1100 block of West Olive Avenue minutes later. The suspects in the vehicle drove through a nearby neighborhood before leaving the vehicle and running away on foot. All three subjects ran to a nearby dry riverbed and were able to evade officers.
One of the subjects was identified as a 16 year old male juvenile who was a known gang member. The vehicle was recovered and returned to the victim.
After several attempts to locate and arrest the juvenile suspect he was finally located near his residence. He fled on foot when he saw approaching officers but was taken into custody a short distance away. Another suspect was identified at that time and additional arrests are anticipated.
The juvenile suspect was booked at the Juvenile Detention Facility for housing.
