Porterville Police Officer N. Bray responded to Shop ‘n Save Mini Mart at 1206 W. Westfield Avenue regarding a subject who attempted to cash a forged check.
Officer Bray arrived and contacted the store clerk. It was determined that Gloria Ruiz had attempted to cash a check, which she had stolen from her neighbor.
When Gloria Ruiz attempted to cash the check, in excess $1,400.00, the store clerk recognized that Ruiz was not the person listed on the check.
When confronted by the store clerk regarding her identity, Ruiz fled the store.
Officer Bray located Ruiz at her residence and arrested her. Ruiz was booked at Bob Wiley Detention Facility regarding charges of Forgery, Fraud, and Burglary.
