On September 4, 2008, a Porterville resident reported to the Porterville Police Department that his residence had been burglarized. Community Service Officer Ben Mendoza and Community Service Officer Carlos Ochoa responded to the scene and conducted the initial investigation into the crime. Their investigation yielded evidence which led them to the residence of Noe Hernandez.
Porterville Police Officer Robert Craig responded to the Hernandez residence where he subsequently discovered stolen property from the burglary at the residence. Porterville Police Detective Mark Lightfoot served a search warrant at the residence, recovering the stolen property and identifying Noe Hernandez as the suspect responsible for the crime. Mr. Hernandez was not present at the time of the search.
On September 12, 2008, an alert citizen observed Mr. Hernandez in the area of River Edge and Ohio Street. The citizen was aware that Mr. Hernandez was wanted by the police and called to report his location. Officers from the Porterville Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to the area and were able to take Mr. Hernandez into custody without incident.
Mr. Hernandez was booked at the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department, Porterville Sub-station, on charges of burglary. Mr. Hernandez was also found to have an outstanding felony warrant for unrelated burglary charges.
