17 Year Old Arrested for Hit and Run, DUI and more ...

On September 10, 2008 at approximately 9:41 p.m. Officers were dispatched to a Hit and Run traffic collision at Newcomb Street and Morton Avenue. The suspect vehicle was described as a white sedan and was last seen fleeing east on Morton Avenue.

Officer Jordan located the vehicle in the 800 block of West Morton Avenue and conducted a traffic stop.

The driver, a 17 year old male, displayed objective signs of being under the influence of alcohol. A witness positively identified the 17 year old as the driver from the collision.

The 17 year old was placed under arrest and transported to the Porterville Police Department for booking. A plastic baggie containing a suspected controlled substance was located in the possession of the 17 year old during the booking process.

The 17 year old was transported to the Tulare County Juvenile Detention Facility for housing on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance; Driving under the Influence of Drugs and/or Alcohol; and Leaving the Scene of a Non-Injury Traffic Accident.
