START TIME LINE -- On April 26, 2008, it was discovered that a classroom at Porterville High School had been burglarized with numerous items having been taken.
Porterville Police Officer Nathan Bray responded to conduct the initial investigation. During this initial investigation Officer Bray discovered numerous items of physical evidence which were submitted to the California Department of Justice Bureau of Forensic Services for analysis.
On August 4, 2008, the California Department of Justice provided information that the evidence collected at the scene identified Paul Anthony Hernandez, age 23, as the suspect.
Detectives from the Porterville Police Department’s General Investigations Unit obtained a search warrant for Mr. Hernandez’ residence, and on August 7, 2008, served the search warrant.
Upon service of the search warrant, detectives located Mr. Hernandez at the residence and took him into custody without incident. Additional evidence was also located linking Mr. Hernandez to the burglary.
Mr. Hernandez was booked with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department. Detective Dowling is continuing the investigation and anyone with additional information is urged to contact him at (559)782-7411.
