On July 19th 2008 at about 1930hrs Officer Martinez contacted a female who reported that her ex-boyfriend, Robert Perez (34yrs), had forced entry into her residence, drug her to her vehicle and assaulted her.
The female was able to escape however Perez took the victim’s vehicle without her consent. The victim’s vehicle; was recovered by other officers a short time later, however Perez was still outstanding.
Surrounding agencies were alerted to this incident and attempts to locate Perez throughout the night were unsuccessful. Pursuant to confidentiality laws the victim’s name will not be released (293 PC).
On July 20, 2008 at about 2123hrs Ofc. Cortez conducted a traffic stop of a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of the Tav Cam Inn located at 676 N. Main Street. Officer Cortez contacted the driver who identified himself as Oscar Perez, however he did not have any form of identification.
Perez was nervous and evasive with Ofc. Cortez and found to be under the influence of a CNS stimulant. Perez was arrested for use of a controlled substance at which time a search of his person revealed a small amount of methamphetamine in his possession.
As Ofc. Cortez investigated Perez’s identity further he was positively identified as Robert Perez (07-24-76). Perez was wanted in connection with the domestic violence / auto theft incident reported to Ofc. Martinez yesterday (07-19-08) and he also had an active 3056 PC. Perez was booked in the Tulare County Jail without incident.
A female identified as Rosemary Herrera (03-14-81) was also arrested with Perez for 11550 HS and 11364 HS. Herrera was later released on a citation.
