Robert Lopez Crashes into home while Drunk Driving
(Jul 06 2008) - Porterville Police Dept - Press Release
by Sgt Mike Blaine - Porterville Police Dept :

On Sunday, July 6, 2008, the Porterville Police Department received a call of a traffic collision in the 1200 block of West Westfield Avenue.

The report involved a vehicle that had crashed into a home. The investigation revealed the driver Robert Lopez age 27 was traveling west on Westfield Avenue in his 2002 GMC pick-up truck and tried to negotiate a southbound turn onto Lowery Street and lost control. His vehicle left the roadway and crashed into the home owned by Miguel Sanchez.

There were no injuries sustained to the residents, but the home did sustain moderate damage to the exterior living room wall. The driver Robert Lopez, who suffered minor cuts, was contacted at the scene and found to exhibit signs of driving while intoxicated. The investigation revealed he was also on active State Parole and as a result of the accident and contributing factors was in violation of his parole terms.

Mr. Lopez was arrested and a subsequent test revealed he was driving well above the legal limit. Mr. Lopez was charged and booked on drunken driving and Felony State Parole violation. Mr. Lopez was booked at Tulare County Jail.
