On June 30, 2008, at 2130 hours, Porterville Officers were dispatched to Save Mart, 900 West Henderson regarding the theft of alcohol. On arrival, Officers met with store employees and an off-duty California Highway Patrol Officer.
Store employees said the above listed suspects entered the store and were attempting to steal alcoholic beverages from the store. A struggle ensued between the suspects and store security and the suspects were able to flee from the store with the items to a vehicle parked in front of the store.
The suspect Rogelio Alvarado began driving from the parking lot, at which time an off duty California Highway Patrol Officer witnessed the theft and attempted to obtain a license plate of the fleeing automobile. As he was obtaining the license plate information, Rogelio Alvarado attempted to run over the Officer.
Officers were able to identify both suspects who were located at their home in the 300 block of North Murry and all items stolen from Save Mart were recovered.
Both were arrested and booked at the Tulare County Jail.
