Domestic Violence turns into Kidnapping

On May 17, 2008, at approximately 11:35p.m., detectives from the Porterville Police Department’s General Investigations Unit arrested Alejandro Orozco on charges of domestic violence and kidnapping, stemming from an altercation which occurred in the parking lot of the Porterville Fairgrounds.

Witnesses reported that Mr. Orozco had become involved in a verbal altercation with a confidential victim. During this altercation Mr. Orozco removed the victim’s infant child from a car seat and started to walk away.

When the victim attempted to stop Mr. Orozco from leaving with her child, Mr. Orozco assaulted the victim and again started to leave with the child.

Witness to the incident intervened and prevented Mr. Orozco from leaving with the child. They detained Mr. Orozco until police could arrive at which time Mr. Orozco was arrested.

Mr. Orozco was booked with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department.
