On May 13, 2008 at approximately 11:24 p.m. officers responded to the intersection of Jaye Street and State Route 190 in the city of Porterville on a report of a vehicle vs. pedestrian.
The Porterville Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team responded to investigate the collision.
The investigation revealed that a 15 year old male was walking northbound across State Route 190 at Jaye Street and stepped in front of a vehicle traveling westbound on State Route 190.
The male was transported by ambulance to the Sierra View District Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The driver of the vehicle that struck the pedestrian was determined to not be at fault.
At this point, there are no indications that alcohol was involved.
