On May 12, 2009, Porterville Police Special Investigations Unit detectives conducted a gang suppression detail throughout the City of Porterville. Detectives conducted targeted patrol on all suspected or known gang members in the City of Porterville.
Detectives contacted two suspicious subjects rummaging through a vehicle in the parking lot of Wal-Mart. During the contact, Jerry Gilmore and Lydia Gilmore-Collins were suspected of being under the influence of a controlled substance. They were arrested and during the investigation, detectives located methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and syringes. Lydia Collins also had a felony warrant for her arrest with a $50,000.00 bail. Both subjects were arrested and booked for charges of Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, as well as Collins’ arrest warrant.
Detectives responded to assist with a hit and run investigation. Detectives evidence at the scene and eventually located the suspect vehicle. The driver, Ezequiel Guerrero was arrested booked for felony driving under the Influence and hit and run.
At approximately 11:00 P.M., Detective Contreras stopped a vehicle, which was occupied by several subjects. The driver was Isaac Martinez (07-25-90), and the occupants were Josue Sanchez (01-21-91), Edward Gonzalez (05-21-89), and a juvenile subject. During the traffic stop, detectives located a sawed-off 12-guage shotgun, ammunition, and gang membership paraphernalia. All of the occupants were arrested and booked for Possession of a Prohibited Firearm, Conspiracy to Commit a Felony, and Being Members of a Criminal Street Gang.
The proactive enforcement action resulted in (10) Field Interviews, (7) felony arrests, (2) misdemeanor arrests, as well as, methamphetamine and other drug paraphernalia seized.
