So here’s kinda-sorta what happened. We say that because we’re gonna let this Police Officer submit his report to the department and let them play a little more referee with these kids, their parents and their schools.
However, when the Post arrived, one of these young guns caught a sucker punk and was bleeding pretty good … enough that the “attending officer” called for an ambulance.
Was this gang related, the Post asked. “It could be, the officer stated, but were not sure. We need to check with the schools and we should have a report finished in a couple of days. We’ll let you know.”
Now, from what the Post could observe, this was gang related. These two young men were getting at it right in center of what the Norteno’s call, VCP or Central Varrio Poros – or Porterville’s Central Neighborhood. One was wearing a RED T-Shirt that had the “FAMOUS” logo with the star in the middle. The other was wearing a white shirt with black trousers, which is considered “Neutral” by many gangs.
Were these young men aware they were in Central Varrio ? Count on it. Not more than a house away from this little knuckle banging nose bleed is a home that sports weekend parties for many XIV associates, and no doubt shot callers from VCP. Just walk down that sidewalk and you will see where VCP is etched into the cement … 50 feet away from this home.
Retaliation ? Yeah … the Post believes that the one who got the nose bleed will run to the other XIV gang members and friends for a payback. How can the Post be so sure ? Let’s just say this. If you were assaulted by someone you knew or didn’t know and the paramedic and cops showed up and your bleeding like a stuck pig and you don’t want to press charges, folks come-on ! That's a tell-tell sign of gang allegiance or street code {don't rat}, then I need some more street training.
The next tell-all sign came from the victim himself, asking the Post “Are you going to put my picture in the news ?” The Post answered, yep ! And we did.
Final Note : Please stay in Prayer over the City of Porterville for the next week or so. Pray that there is no retaliation and these young men forgive and forget. Pray that this officer can communicate what really took place to his reporting commander and the schools. And last but not least -- pray that these young men have a talk with the LORD tonight and surrender their lives to HIM.
