On January 21, 2009, at approximately 5:00 p.m., detectives with the Porterville Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit (S.I.U.) served two search warrants in the City of Porterville.
During the investigation, detectives located approximately 50 grams of crystal methamphetamine packaged for sale and approximately 4100 grams (9 pounds) of suspected marijuana. The estimated street value of the seized narcotics was approximately $33,000.00.
Investigators also located approximately $2,000.00 in U.S. Currency believed to be proceeds from illegal narcotic trafficking. During the service of the search warrants, investigators also located 24 grams of marijuana, a small amount of methamphetamine, digital scales, packaging material, and other items associated with the sales and trafficking of crystal methamphetamine and marijuana.
Santos Murrillo and Tomas Murrillo were arrested for possession of a controlled substance for sales, possession of marijuana for sale, maintaining a residence where a controlled substance is being sold and possession of narcotic paraphernalia. Santos and Tomas were booked at the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department on a $250,000 bail.
