On Saturday, January 10, 2009, at 1:41 p.m. Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of East College regarding a male subject trying to run a female subject over with a vehicle.
Investigation revealed Sergio Tapia tried to run his ex-girlfriend, and her male friend, over with his pickup. Mr. Tapia missed them but stopped and got out of the vehicle while threatened to kill them.
Mr. Tapia removed a baseball bat from his vehicle and chased both of the other subjects into the roadway before returning to his vehicle and leaving.
Mr. Tapia was contacted at a family member’s residence a short time later and arrested without incident.
Mr. Tapia was transported to the Tulare County Sheriffs Department Main Jail for housing on charges of Assault With a Deadly Weapon and Terrorist Threats.
