(May 19 2009) - Tea Party Update | No 1 | THANK YOU PORTERVILLE !
By Porterville Tea Party Chairman: Mr. Matt Cox
PORTERVILLE, CA -- Thank you Porterville! What a great crowd we had that turned out for our first T.E.A. Party. Let me start by apologizing for writing so late-between school finals, work, never ending computer problems and the usual family chaos it has been an extremely busy time here in the Cox household.
I would like to personally thank all of the organizers who helped to pull this thing together: Marti Irish, David and Sally Prado, Roy Smith, Al Rollans, and the many others involved. I would also like to express thanks to Lucky Lucketta for his help and support in getting our word out and supporting us with his Porterville Post.
I would also like to say thank you to speakers Mayor Hamilton, Councilman Ward and to the many others who got up to show their support of the people and to voice their opinions that WE THE PEOPLE will no longer tolerate an inept and self serving government. We had great entertainment, and a big thank you goes out to Patty Torrey, Kristy Hughs, and Terry Whitson for the patriotism in their songs. But I would especially like to give a heart felt thanks to all of the people of Porterville who came out to support what this T.E.A. Party stands for.
Many are probably wondering now what do we do? I have been recently contacted by the organizers of the Fresno and Bakersfield T.E.A. Parties, and they want us all to get involved and attend a huge 4th of July party in Tulare. The Central Valley Tea Party will be held at the Tulare Agri-Center Saturday July 4th from 9am to 2pm. You can visit the website at www.CentralValleyTeaParty.com to keep up to date.
This is going to be a family-friendly experience; there will be bounce houses, petting zoos, food vendors, etc. Of course there will also be speakers and entertainment and the opportunity to express discontent with the bureaucrats who THINK that they know what’s best for us. So please get involved, get the word out, and tell family, friends and neighbors.
It is time that the silent majority begins to make its voice heard and proclaim that this is our country, you are our elected officials, that we will no longer stand for the abuses and corruption; that this great country has a Constitution, and it is high time that you politicians brush up on the knowledge of that Constitution instead of trampling all over it thinking that WE THE PEOPLE are too ignorant or too self absorbed to notice what you are doing. We the citizens are watching, and we are going to act!
So please join me in continuing to support these grassroots movements to bring our government back where it belongs, in the hands of the people. We cannot stop; our kids, grand kids, and great grand kids are relying on us to make sure that they have a secure future that is not mortgaged and out of reach. The governments’ tyranny and unconstitutional behavior has got to stop, and that will only happen is if we band together, make our voices heard, back up what we say, and collectively take these issues to the Lord in prayer. Though, at times it may seem like a daunting task and things will never change, Matthew 19:26 says “…But with God all things are Possible.”
God bless our troops, veterans, Porterville, and our United States of America.
Sincerely, Matt Cox
