Barteau - Porterville Police Dept : On May 12, 2009, Porterville Police Special Investigations Unit detectives conducted a gang suppression detail throughout the City of Porterville. Detectives conducted targeted patrol on all suspected or known gang members in the City of Porterville. Detectives contacted two suspicious subjects rummaging through a vehicle in the parking lot of Wal-Mart. During the contact, Jerry Gilmore and Lydia Gilmore-Collins were suspected of being under the influence of a controlled substance. They were arrested and during the investigation, detectives located methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and syringes. (Mar 30 2009) - Porterville Police Dept - Press Release by Sgt. Jake Castellow - Porterville Police Dept : On March 30, 2009 at approximately 2:00 p.m., officers from the Porterville Police Department were dispatched to the 400 block of West Putnam Avenue regarding criminal street gang activity. Upon arrival at the scene, suspects Thomas Cruz and Ronald Cruz were contacted. During the contact with Thomas Cruz, he was found to be in possession of an illegal stabbing weapon. Jake Castellow - Porterville Police Dept : On March 29, 2009, at approximately 6:00 PM, detectives and officers with the Porterville Police Department served a search warrant in the 500 Block of East Putnam in the City of Porterville. Upon service of the search warrant, Detectives contacted and detained two subjects identified as Benjamin Gamez and Moses Gamez. During the search of the residence, investigators located suspected marijuana, a .30 caliber assault rifle, a .44 caliber handgun, and a 12 gauge shotgun. Larry Rodriguez - Porterville Police Dept : On March 5, 2009, at approximately 11:30 a.m., detectives with the Porterville Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit (S.I.U.) General Investigations Unit, and the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office served two search warrants. One of the search warrants was in the City of Porterville and the other was at a residence at a county address just outside the city limits. During the investigation, detectives located crystal methamphetamine packaged for sale, digital scales, packaging material, and other items associated with the sales and trafficking of crystal methamphetamine. Larry Rodriguez - Porterville Police Dept : On March 3, 2009, at approximately 11:00 AM, Detectives with the Porterville Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit (S.I.U.) responded to Visalia to conduct surveillance and arrest of the second suspect who was identified in an attempt homicide, which occurred on February 8, 2009. The suspect, Cesar Rodriguez, was located and arrested without incident. Subsequently, detectives served two search warrants at locations in Visalia and Porterville, California. Larry Rodriguez - Porterville Police Dept : On Sunday, March 1st 2009, at approximately 11:20 a.m. Officer Miller was dispatched to a retail business in the 100 block of South Main Street regarding a theft. Veronica Moisa entered the business and distracted the manager in order to steal merchandise. Once Ms. Moisa left and the theft was realized the store manager began looking for her. Larry Rodriguez - Porterville Police Dept : On March 1, 2009 at 1:46 A.M., Officer Orique was driving in the 100 Block of North Main Street, when he heard the sound of gunshots coming from the immediate area. Additional Officers of the Porterville Police Department responded to the scene to assist Officer Orique and began contacting numerous persons and initiated an investigation. During the investigation, Officers discovered that Bill Martinez, a convicted felon, fired a handgun into the air, during an altercation, where numerous patrons of a nearby business were present. Larry Rodriguez - Porterville Police Dept : On Saturday, February 28, 2009, at approximately 10:02 a.m. Officer Aguilar was on routine patrol in the 700 block of South Plano Street when he observed three subjects acting suspiciously. Officer Aguilar contacted the subjects and observed one subject, Javier Garcia, concealing something nearby. The other two subjects were identified as Nestor Servin and a 17 year old male juvenile. Officer Aguilar continued to investigate the incident and located scales commonly used to weigh various drugs for sales, a quantity of marijuana, and other incriminating items. Larry Rodriguez - Porterville Police Dept : On Sunday, February 22, 2009, at 9:14 a.m. Officer Aguilar was dispatched to a confidential location in the city of Porterville regarding a disturbance. Upon arrival the victim told Officer Aguilar her boyfriend, Rogelio Astorga, became angry and struck her, causing minor visible injury to her face. Larry Rodriguez - Porterville Police Dept : On Friday, February 20, 2009, at approximately 9:36 hours, Officer Miller was dispatched to a vehicle burglary in the 1500 block of West Tomah. Various tools and personal items were taken. During the investigation Officer Miller identified a possible suspect. Officer Miller went to a nearby residence and located most of the stolen property, but the juvenile suspect wasn’t there. Officer Miller continued to look for the juvenile suspect. Larry Rodriguez - Porterville Police Dept : On February 17, 2009 at approximately 3:00 p.m. a confidential victim called the Porterville Police Department to report his cellular telephone stolen. The victim reported he has telephone contact with the suspect. The victim made arrangements to meet the suspect at Zalud Park to exchange the phone for cash. The victim contacted the suspect, Bob Turpin, and Zalud Park. (Feb 13 2009) - Porterville Police Dept - Press Release by Sgt. Larry Rodriguez - Porterville Police Dept : On Friday, February 13, 2009, at approximately 3:41p.m., Carmen Moreno and Doraelia Martinez were detained in a local department store for theft. Investigation revealed Ms. Moreno and Ms. Martinez conspired together to enter the business to steal merchandise. They entered the business, selected items, and left the business without paying for them. They were contacted outside by store security, who placed them under Citizen’s Arrest. Larry Rodriguez - Porterville Police Dept : On February 8, 2009, at approximately 5:30 a.m., a 22 year old male was confronted by three male suspects in the 1200 block of West Henderson Avenue. One of the three suspects simulated a weapon and demanded the victim’s wallet. After obtaining the victim’s wallet the three suspects fled the area. Investigation into this incident by patrol personnel identified the suspect vehicle as an older model blue Chevrolet step-side pickup. Porterville Police Officer Jeremy Painter located the described suspect vehicle in the 1400 block of North Atkins. (Feb 08 2009) - Porterville Police Dept - Press Release by Sgt. Larry Rodriguez - Porterville Police Dept : On February 8, 2009, at approximately 2:13 a.m., officers from the Porterville Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to the 500 block of East Putnam Avenue on a report of a prowler. When officers arrived they found a 26 year old male on the sidewalk, bleeding profusely from stab wounds to the neck. Officers administered first aid to the victim until ambulance personnel arrived and transported the victim. The victim was taken to Sierra View District Hospital and later to the University Medical Center in Fresno where he underwent surgery. The victim is currently in stable condition. Larry Rodriguez - Porterville Police Dept : On February 6, 2009 at approximately 12:24 A.M., Officers of the Porterville Police Department responded to the 300 Block of South “E” Street, regarding a domestic disturbance. Officers contacted the victim, who reported being struck and choked by David Baez. The victim had a minor complaint of pain, but no visible injures were located. Suspect Robert Hart was taken into custody after he was identified by a witness purchasing pizzas using the Victim’s credit card account information. During Robert Hart’s arrest, evidence of Victim’s personal information including his credit account information was located inside his residence along with several other possible victims. During the investigation, Officers discovered Toledo and Martinez were contacted by two unknown suspects while standing in front of a residence in the 900 block of South Jaye Street. Officers contacted Victim’s who reported they were approached by 18 year old Gerardo Quintero, 19 year old David Luna, 20 year old Ignacio Calderon, and 20 year old Alfredo Gonzalez, confronting the Victims about their gang affiliation. Larry Rodriguez - Porterville Police Dept : On January 27, 2009, Porterville Police Officer responded to the 99 Cent Store located at 825 West Henderson regarding a grand theft report of a lottery scam. The 60 year old female victim was approached by an Hispanic Female informing her she had a winning lottery ticket worth thousands, however, she was unable to claim the prize because of her citizenship. A second subject, Hispanic Male, posing as a bystander, overhearing the conversation convinced the Victim of purchasing the lottery ticket for $3,000 in cash and another $2,000 in jewelry. Both subjects informed the Victim to purchase stationary from the 99 Cent Store to document the transaction before turning over the winning lottery ticket. Larry Rodriguez - Porterville Police Dept : On January 23, 2009 at approximately 10:00 p.m. officers from the Porterville Police Department were dispatched to the 400 block of South “E” Street, Porterville, regarding an assault that had just occurred. Upon arrival, a confidential victim was contacted. The victim reported she was assaulted by Mr. Barnes and sustained an injury. The victim sustained a minor injury to a hand. Larry Rodriguez - Porterville Police Dept : On Thursday, January 22, 2009, at approximately 3:03 p.m. Officer Miller was dispatched to an address in the 700 block of South Roche regarding a residential burglary. The victim said some cash and a microwave were taken. The victim’s ex-girlfriend, Maria Duran, was suspected due to witness statements. On Saturday, January 24, 2009, at approximately 10:15 a.m. Officer Miller located Ms. Duran and placed her under arrest without incident. The property was not recovered. Larry Rodriguez - Porterville Police Dept : On January 21, 2009, at approximately 5:00 p.m., detectives with the Porterville Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit (S.I.U.) served two search warrants in the City of Porterville. During the investigation, detectives located approximately 50 grams of crystal methamphetamine packaged for sale and approximately 4100 grams (9 pounds) of suspected marijuana. Larry Rodriguez - Porterville Police Dept : On Tuesday, January 20, 2009, at approximately 1:43 p.m. the victim in this case reported an unknown subject burglarized her residence. A report was taken but no suspects were initially identified. On Saturday, January 24, 2009, Officer Lientz received additional information regarding this case. Officer Lientz continued the investigation and identified a possible suspect as Adam Gomez. Officer Lientz contacted Mr. Gomez at his residence and located the stolen property, which was later returned to the victim. (Jan 17 2009) - Porterville Police Dept - Press Release by Sgt. Larry Rodriguez - Porterville Police Dept : On January 17, 2008 at approximately 10:00 p.m. officers were dispatched to an address located near the 100 block of North Martin Street regarding a disturbance. Upon arrival a confidential victim was contacted. The victim reported a telephone line inside of her residence had been destroyed by Mr. Gomez. Mr. Gomez was arrested at the scene without incident. Larry Rodriguez - Porterville Police Dept : On Friday, January 16, 2009, at approximately 4:25 p.m. the victim reported a subject fraudulently used her EBT card at various locations in Porterville. Officer Miller began a lengthy investigation and was able to identify three different suspects. Through the investigation Officer Miller arrested Jessica Oliver-Hoffman, Heather Wall, and Miguel Garcia. Ms. Oliver-Hoffman originally had limited access to the victim’s card and traded it to Ms. Wall. Ms. Wall used the card and then sold it to Mr. Garcia, who also used the card. Larry Rodriguez - Porterville Police Dept : On Friday, January 16, 2009, at 3:49 p.m. Officer Orique was dispatched to a confidential location in the city of Porterville regarding a disturbance. Upon arrival the victim told Officer Orique her husband, Alejandro Hernandez, struck her causing minor visible injury to her face. Larry Rodriguez - Porterville Police Dept : On Friday, January 16, 2009, at 11:13 a.m. three Detectives from the Porterville Police Department were in the 1300 block of West Henderson on an unrelated matter when they observed a confidential male subject and a confidential female subject in a vehicle parked in a parking lot. Detectives observed the female subject strike the male subject with her hand first. The male subject in turn struck the female subject several times with his hand. Larry Rodriguez - Porterville Police Dept : Officer Benas was contacted at the Porterville Police Department by two females who were witnesses to an assault that occurred earlier this morning which had already been reported. The females told officers that they were later threatened by Jessica Subido and Ricardo Torres for reporting the incident that led to the arrests of all three suspects. Officers responded to the 800 Block of East Oak and contacted both suspects and arrested them without incident for the above listed charges. Larry Rodriguez - Porterville Police Dept : On January 14, 2009, Officers responded to a report of a fight in the area of Oak Avenue and Doree Street. Upon arrival, it was determined that a 16 year-old male juvenile had been walking in the neighborhood when he was confronted and assaulted by 5-6 other male juveniles. The victim attempted to walk away from the suspects; however, one of them punched the victim in the face causing him to fall to the ground. Once on the ground, the suspects began kicking and punching the victim in the head, face, and body. The victim sustained bruising, swelling, abrasions and lacerations to his head and face. Upon arrival officers contacted the adult victim, Eric Robertson, who said that he had been walking in the area when the suspect, known to him from prior contacts, confronted him and demanded money. Mulberry in regards to a disturbance involving two groups of subjects. One group was last seen in a white 4 door vehicle and one of the occupants was overheard telling another to shoot somebody. A Police motorcycle unit was in the area and observed the suspect vehicle drive past him. The vehicle was stopped and all five occupants were detained. A subsequent search revealed a loaded 12 gauge shotgun in the trunk with the serial number painted over and a small amount of marijuana. Larry Rodriguez - Porterville Police Dept : On Monday, January 12, 2009, at approximately 3:54 p.m. Officers responded to a local motel in Porterville regarding the discovery of a possible explosive device. The device was discovered during a motel room cleaning. Cruz Valles had just been arrested from the same room a short time earlier and booked at the Tulare County Sheriff Department, Porterville Sub-Station, on other charges. Larry Rodriguez - Porterville Police Dept : On Monday, January 12, 2009, at 12:38 p.m. Officer Powers was dispatched to a confidential address in Porterville regarding an assault. Investigation revealed Cruz Valles repeatedly threatened, intimidated, and assaulted the confidential victim with his hands and a screwdriver, for an extended period of time at a local motel. Larry Rodriguez - Porterville Police Dept : On Sunday, January 11, 2009, at 10:22 a.m. Officer Miller was dispatched to a confidential location in the city of Porterville regarding a disturbance. Upon arrival the victim told Officer Miller her husband, Oscar Camacho, struck her and their 2 year old son, causing minor visible injury to both subjects. Larry Rodriguez - Porterville Police Dept : On Sunday, January 11, 2009, at approximately 7:49 a.m. Officer Miller conducted a traffic stop in the area of Henderson Avenue and Second Street. The driver, Luis Lopez, was contacted and provided a false name. Mr. Lopez was arrested and his true identity was established. Mr. Lopez was transported to the Porterville Police Department for booking. During the booking process Mr. Lopez was found to possess a useable amount of suspected Heroin. Larry Rodriguez - Porterville Police Dept : On January 11, 2008 at approximately 2:00 a.m. officers were dispatched to an address located in the 800 block of North Plano Street regarding a fight in progress. Upon arrival two confidential victims and Mr. Enrique Martinez were contacted. The victims reported they were assaulted by Mr. Martinez and received minor injuries. Upon arrival Dennis Rushing and Ryan Muller were contacted in front of the residence. An investigation into the incident revealed Mr. Rushing had assaulted a confidential victim causing minor injury. Larry Rodriguez - Porterville Police Dept : On Saturday, January 10, 2009, at 1:41 p.m. Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of East College regarding a male subject trying to run a female subject over with a vehicle. Investigation revealed Sergio Tapia tried to run his ex-girlfriend, and her male friend, over with his pickup. Mr. Tapia missed them but stopped and got out of the vehicle while threatened to kill them. Mr. Tapia removed a baseball bat from his vehicle and chased both of the other subjects into the roadway before returning to his vehicle and leaving. Larry Rodriguez - Porterville Police Dept : On January 10, 2009 at approximately 3:00 a.m. Officer Hatch stopped a motorist for a traffic violation near the intersection of Olive Avenue and Villa Street. The driver, Ronald Riggins, displayed the objective symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance. Mr. Riggins was arrested. Passenger Luis Trevino was contacted and found to have three outstanding warrants for his arrest. A search incident to Mr. Trevino’s arrest yielded three counterfeit twenty dollar bills. Mr. Trevino also displayed the objective symptoms of being under the influence of a controlled substance. Mr. Trevino was also arrested. (Jan 10 2009) - Porterville Police Dept - Press Release by Sgt. Larry Rodriguez - Porterville Police Dept : On January 10, 2009 at approximately 2:00 a.m. a clerk from Big D Liquor, 699 South Plano Street, Porterville, reported a theft that had just occurred. Officers arrived at the business and contacted Steven Fawcett. Mr. Fawcett was detained by the clerk. The investigation revealed Mr. Fawcett had tried to steal alcoholic beverages from the business and was detained by the clerk. (Jan 09 2009) - Porterville Police Dept - Press Release by Sgt. Larry Rodriguez - Porterville Police Dept : On Friday, January 9, 2009, at approximately 9:32 a.m. Officer Lientz contacted Ruben Rodriguez in the parking lot of a local motel. During the contact, Officer Lientz located a useable amount of suspected methamphetamine in Mr. Ruben Rodriguez’ possession. Mr. Rodriguez also had three outstanding warrants for his arrest. Mr. Rodriguez was arrested without incident. Mr. Rodriguez was transported to the Tulare County Sheriff Department, Porterville Sub-Station, where he was booked for a charge of 11377 HS. Larry Rodriguez - Porterville Police Dept : On January 9, 2009 at approximately 2:00 a.m. officers were dispatched to an address in the 300 block of East Olivewood Court, Porterville, regarding an assault that had just occurred. A confidential victim, three juveniles, and Ramiro Ruiz were contacted. The investigation revealed the victim had been assaulted by Mr. Ruiz. The victim sustained minor injuries that did not require medical attention. One of the children at the scene was also assaulted by Mr. Ruiz. Larry Rodriguez - Porterville Police Dept : On January 8, 2009 at approximately 7:45 p.m. officers were dispatched to an address in the 400 block of South E Street, Porterville, regarding an assault that had just occurred. A confidential victim and Louis Esquivel were contacted. The investigation revealed the victim had been assaulted by Mr. Esquivel. The victim sustained minor injuries that did not require medical attention. (Jan 05 2009) - Porterville Police Dept - Press Release by Sgt. Larry Rodriguez - Porterville Police Dept : On October 21, 2008, two subjects, later identified as Nadine Ledesma and her brother Candelario Chavarria, were observed by loss prevention personnel stealing items form the Mervyn’s Department Store in Porterville. When the two attempted to leave with the stolen merchandise they were confronted by loss prevention personnel. A struggle ensued during which time Candelario Chavarria fled to the parking lot, obtaining a vehicle. Chavarria returned to the scene of the confrontation, driving his vehicle at loss prevention personnel as if intending to strike them with the vehicle. Chavarria then exited the vehicle and made motions as if he were drawing a handgun in an apparent effort to help Ledesma escape. Fearing for their safety loss prevention personnel backed away from the situation and called police. (Jan 04 2009) - Porterville Police Dept - Press Release by Sgt. Larry Rodriguez - Porterville Police Dept : On January 4th, 2009, at approximately 0255 hours, officers were dispatched to the 300 block of North Lowery Street, Porterville, regarding a man with a gun. When officers arrived, Gerardo Madrigal was contacted in the roadway. Mr. Madrigal was combative with officers. Mr. Madrigal was taken into custody at the scene. Larry Rodriguez - Porterville Police Dept : At about 8:55 a.m., Officer Todd Lientz of the Porterville Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Henderson and Highway 65. Upon contacting the occupants of the vehicle, Danielle Alfaro and Matthew Elliot, officers obtained consent to search the vehicle. Further investigation revealed the two occupants were in possession of several Oxycodone tablets. They were arrested and transported to the Porterville Police Department where Alfaro was cited and released. (Jan 02 2009) - Porterville Police Dept - Press Release by Sgt. Larry Rodriguez - Porterville Police Dept : On December 23, 2008, Detective Chris McGuire of the Porterville Police Department located and recovered a stolen vehicle in the area of Roche and Vandalia. The vehicle, a 2004 BMW, had been reported as stolen out of the Redondo Beach area. Immediately upon discovering the vehicle was stolen Detective McGuire began an investigation into the matter. On January 2, 2009, at approximately 7:30 a.m. two search warrants were served as a result of Detective McGuire’s investigation. Investigators from the Tulare County Reduce Auto Theft Taskforce, Detectives from the Porterville Police Department’s General and Special Investigations Unit, and uniformed personnel from the patrol division served the search warrants, one in the 200 block of East Vandalia and the second in the 1900 block of East Crabtree.
