1450 : THE PAPER BOY : Part XX
What happened to the spirit of the Paper Boy?
Looks to me like the main stream media sold out and they are completely politicized now and spinning , spinning, and spinning the truth to support a political cause. You could argue they sold out and the advertising is controlling them and you would not be wrong. The 60 Minutes segment that was selectively edited recently to favor a candidate is outrageous.
This is the very thing the good book (1 Timothy 6:10) warns us about regarding THE LOVE OF MONEY BEING THE ROOT OF ALL EVIL. The media is supposed to be objective and truth seeking that is their responsibility. Why do we watch the legacy media anymore?
Should we trust social media that does the same politicization under the guise of safety and security as they censor truth shadow banning people that don’t follow the “newspeak?” Should we trust the search results of companies that de-rank original source documents and point people to places where they make money? That is anti-trust for sure and a company that used to say do no evil is one of the worst offenders. It’s rich to think you can trust them after they rejected the original charter.
THIS LOOKS A LOT LIKE
The Modern Day Socialist Book Burning
This looks a lot like the modern day socialist book burning. The misinformation disinformation campaigns are destroying the country as they destroy objective truth for a political cause and profit at your expense. They say it’s for safety buy they are lying. Those seeking power and censoring are never the good guys.
What do misinformation and disinformation have in common? DECEPTION !!!
Imagine now for just a moment the psychological projection of those pointing to misinformation and disinformation are themselves fomenting the same. These purity spirals destroy truth and meaning and FAVOR EXTREMISM IN BOTH DIRECTIONS, LEFT AND RIGHT. It’s almost like it’s on purpose?
Independent media is beginning to thrive again in response to the American PRAVDA’s.
The spirit of decentralization seems to be alive and well. The cable news networks all went to the centralization mode and now we see that collapsing in on itself. The internet is creating a space for the modern public square where people can be independent again searching for truth and information on anything you can imagine.
The true promise of the internet is beginning to emerge and it will cause us all to start thinking critically again. Discernment required as it should be, as it has always been since the beginning of time.
The internet has created a space where we can be self-reliant again and less beholden to the centralized narrative concocted to serve political interests. Sure there are a lot of scams but nothing new under the sun just a new media platform to sell snake oil. My grandmother taught me as a young child to read as much as I could, and she also said don’t believe any of it. DISCERNMENT REQUIRED.

HEADLINE NEWS IS COMPLETELY MISLEADING & BIASED
In fact most people work hard to cobble together what is going on and we seldom know enough about current events because the conversation is ever changing and moving faster than ever before. We are captured in endless purity spirals and seldom talk about issues that matter in any serious way. HEADLINE NEWS IS COMPLETELY MISLEADING AND BIASED.
Group think thrives when people only read headlines and seldom if ever read the articles. Did you read the article or were you captured in the group think sloganeering headlines masquerading as news? It seems the best way to consume information today is to wait a few days and find a good news aggregator so you can hear and see different points of view.
I would like to recommend a great book to read explaining mass formation and group think. The book is called “The Psychology of Totalitarianism” by Mattias Desmet.
Even the paper boys of my era read some of the articles, not all of them but when it was a local issue they read and discussed while they folded papers. Remember most of the time this was a family affair. Families were busy and the siblings and even parents helped fold on days when homework was heavy. If there was a family event everyone chipped in and helped get the job done. It had to be done every day on time and with the best service.
Families helped each other for the most part and the merit and work ethic was shared to support the family and serve the community by delivering the local news. These efforts are important in a culture but not nearly as important as what all of this pointed to. Something bigger something more significant. Something few stopped and thought about because we were so busy but significant nonetheless.
Getting things done and done well with merit and resolve to maintain consistent service was fulfilling. Paper boys and the extended families that delivered the news were essential in many ways to the success of the community at large. All of this pointed up.
Often times in our analysis and study of leadership we overlook the simple and obvious. A job well done is good leadership in action. A job not well done is leadership in action also. The point is that we can inspire others to do good or bad by what we do. When we do good we all instinctively are filled with purpose and meaning and look upwards with humility and satisfaction. We all know what the opposite of this is and we all look down when we don’t fulfill our obligations or fall short.
We are all defined by what we do. It is the doers that we focus on and when the doers do good it points us at something higher. When the doers get good results it inspires us because they led by example.
Leadership can be defined in a simple phrase the world over. It is ubiquitous the world over in its simplicity. It knows not race, gender or age. Its only discriminates between good and bad, strong or weak or success and failure. It is based in merit. It is based in spirit. It is definition by results. The awesome revelation about this is through young people that lead us and help us adults grow up. In the good book the phrasing is akin to how a child will lead us.
In the real world it is the same. This phrase and its sentiment is known and embraced by all humans around the world in all stations. The most salient trait and value of this spirit is in the innocence of it. When we embrace child innocence that is the spirit of good leadership in its profound honesty and inspires us in its creative wonder. Children doing and learning and expressing their innocence in that process leads us all. The phrase is simply “Lead by Example.”
Good Leadership Is Based In Good Morals and Ethics
Right is still right even if nobody believes it, wrong is still wrong even if everyone believes it.
There is no group think in good leadership. Leadership is very indefinable unless you boil it down to its simplest form.
Good leadership is based in good morals and ethics. The innocence of a child means at its core that it is not corrupt and it’s trying to understand and to do good. That is why we value the authenticity and sincerity of the innocence of a child trying to do good, and why that should always be protected by everyone everywhere.
This is the essence of the spirit of our communities and remains our highest priority even today with so many bad leadership examples in our culture. Right is still right even if nobody believes it, wrong is still wrong even if everyone believes it. The paper boys in the past generation knew this instinctively and were for the most part innocent and striving to be the best they could be objectively as they forged their character, through hard work and service, doing something as simple as a paper route.
I’m going to finish my article this week paraphrasing what leading by example means to our youth. My audience was just less than a hundred but the message is for all and all ages to hold fast the spirit of civilization. We are all leaders every last one of us. All Ages. All Sexes.
The fundamental truth of civilization is the family and our actions.
What we do leads to something so let’s make what we do lead to something good. Every Girl and Woman is a protector of life. Every Boy and Man is a protector of Women. A civilization that protects the traditional family, and its traditional family roles, has a future.
None of us are better than another and we must all work together doing good in leading others.
