Brief Bio & Intro : Jim Steed is the youngest living of a family of nine children, being raised in California from the age of five. Following graduation from High School, he enlisted in the US Air Force and the US Navy, consecutively.
Following Active Duty, Jim pursued a trade in the private sector. In 1986 he joined the California Department of Corrections, from which he retired as a Captain after over 20 years service.
Jim is married with six adult children, which he helped raise while pursuing educational goals, Naval Reserve duty, an interest in Conservative Politics and applying the Christian Faith to all of life.
Politics : I am a Republican. I am pro-Tea Party. I have an interest in the John Birch Society. An introduction to the CRA would be fine.
Faith : Jesus Christ - He is the Lord, Creator and Maintainer of the Universe, Second member of the Trinity, Savior from sin and all its degradation and mankind's only Hope. He rules today from Heaven and will one day return to judge the living and dead. He [in Trinity] inspired the enscripturated Word of God and He, Himself, is the incarnate Word of God.
Jesus drew me to Himself when I was 15 years old. My family took us on a 'side-trip' for a year to West Virginia and while visiting the local Library, I discovered a ragged copy of "The Pilgrim's Progress" by John Bunyan. It struck a deep chord in my heart.
Soon afterward, I was invited to a Church to hear an 'Evangelist' (also a character in 'Pilgrim's Progress') and after a few nights, I heard the Gospel for the first time in my life. I responded to the offer of grace and was born-again. Solely by His grace am I saved, today.
I became active in Christian work from the beginning and, today after nearly 40 years I am still active, now, in my home-church of the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Bakersfield, CA.
