At ease, troops! Just a "Flash" from the middle.
I've already been to the front (of "Dreams From My Father)& it wasn't pretty. Mr. Obama wrote in a meandering style that made me ask, "What is the point and will he ever get there?" Mercifully, he did, finally making some cogent points about race relations (and other problems) in America, but I decided he was being paid, by the word.
I was reminded of a highly prophetic statement (by Frank,a friend of B.H.O.'s Grandfather, in Hawaii), "They'll train you to manipulate words so they don't mean anything anymore." Sounds like the consummate politician/lawyer. I haven't, yet, seen his degree identified, but I'd bet law.
In reaction to his speeches, most people (with whom I have spoken) say that what they heard was, essentially, "Change, blah, blah, change." The only changes I have heard enumerated were, increased federal spending and debt, and increased governmental control, socialism.
It has been wisely said that the main problem with politics is too many politicians. What we need is more statesmen or (P.C.) "...more states persons".
It is also said that we elect small men to do big jobs and are surprised that they aren't big enough for the job. What we hope is that they will rise to the challenge and live up to the standards set by the founders.
I guess that we may not see that type of inspiration and self-sacrifice, unless the situation becomes more dire. As long as we are still in a, basically, civilized world, there is no necessity for that type of hero.
I just hope that God gives us, the every-day, flawed people, the strength to rise to the occasion, when (not if) it arises. In the meantime, back to Barack, and his writing.
In the last installment I berated the "selective quoters", for taking things out of context. DON"T DO IT!!! If I, basically a stumble-bum (literarily speaking), can deflate your arguments, simply by reading the context, how much worse could a smart, educated person do? I refer to another out-of-context quote, this time mis-quoting less than 1/2 of the sentence. "A little too sure of himself maybe and white.", was the quote. In the book it looks entirely different. "A little too sure of himself maybe. And white-he'd said himself that that was a problem.", in reference to his community organizer boss having trouble connecting with black people.
Remember, politicians are subject to "Foot in Mouth Disease". The symptoms manifest, regularly, (usually when they open their mouths) so you shouldn't try to "fake it". It is often observable when a politician makes, or writes, statements that are diametrically opposite, such as telling one group of, potential, supporters one thing (usually at the heart of their agenda) and telling another group something totally different, about the same subject. Another alert is that you can (usually) tell when a politician is lying. Their mouth is open, or not.
Bottom line, know the truth & the truth shall set you free, if you are prepared to do what the truth requires you to do to earn your freedom. It IS a gift from God, but it is up to you whether you honor the gift, by protecting it, or dishonor it, by holding it too cheaply and selling or giving it away. It is YOUR decision. Don't let someone else make it for you.
Keep the Flag flying. God bless y'all & God bless America!!! Dis-MISSED!!!
